Chapter Seventeen

“He’s really good looking.” Amanda was lying face down on her yoga mat in the dojo. She stretched her arms behind her to grab onto the sides of her feet. Taking a deep breath, she simultaneously raised her feet and head up until she was resting only on her lower belly assuming a perfect Bow Pose.

“Who?” Lily lay next to her in the same pose.

“Detective Santiago.” Amanda took a deep breath, exhaled and repeated it again before letting go of her feet. “Very handsome. Maybe the best looking guy I have ever met and I work in Hollywood so that is saying something.”

Lily rolled over, planted her feet on the floor and with her hands by her head pushed herself up so the top of her head was on the floor. Finally she pushed her head up off the floor and straightened her arms, pushing herself into the Upper Bow Pose.

“He seems a little straight laced for you.” Lily said as she relaxed into her pose.

“And what is that supposed to mean?” Amanda dropped out of her own pose to look at Lily.

Lily sat down on the floor. “There wasn’t a wrinkle anywhere in his suit which he wore all day yesterday. His tie perfectly complimented his suit. His shoes were immaculately shined and there wasn’t a hair out of place on his rather gorgeous head. He probably alphabetizes his soup cans and spices.”

“So?” Amanda stood up. “I’m organized.”

“Really? Don’t forget I went through your office. Organization is not your strong point.” Lily grabbed her mat and headed for the door. “And you’ve always been kind of a wild child.”

“Humph.” Amanda trailed Lily out the door. “Has it occurred to you that maybe I have matured since you last saw me?”

Lily pressed her lips together trying not to laugh. She gave up. “Weren’t you the one trying to sip your soup through a straw last night?”

“Okay, maybe that was a little juvenile.” Amanda admitted. “But everybody laughed. Even Gabriel.”

“Until you got that little piece of pasta stuck in your throat and Gabriel had to do the Heimlich maneuver on you.”

“Yeah, I kind of forgot there was pasta in that soup. It’s a good thing my future husband was there to save me.”

Lily gave her a sharp look. “You’re serious about him, aren’t you?”

“I don’t know.” Amanda shrugged. “I only really met him yesterday, but there was something about him.”

“He’ll be hanging around for a while. Maybe you can get to know him better.”

“I am planning on it.” Amanda opened the door to the guest house. “So what are you up to today?”

“More of the same as yesterday. Looking through your fan mail.” They headed up the stairs to the second floor. “Today we’re supposed to be getting television footage of the press conference and whatever video the tourists took when Teri got shot. Suzie and I will no doubt end up looking through all of that. How about you?”

“I guess I’ll work on my tan by the pool and go over my lines for Monday’s shoot.
